This week

This week we are doing the books "Room on the Broom" and "Pumpkin Soup". The children have already made a good start on our halloween themed learning choices!

We are still looking for sone adult helo with cooking pumpkin soup later in the week please!

Help cooking in class

We are looking for some help with cooking, both next week and the first week back!

Next week we will be cooking pumpkin soup and need some adults to help groups of children, mainly with cutting vegetables.

The first week back we will be cooking 'bonfire muffins' and would like
some adults to help the children with mixing as well as decorating!

Is you could spare half an hour on either of the weeks, please talk to your class teacher!

Octonauts!

This week our theme is Octonauts and we have sea related activities.  One of these activities will be writing our own sea story.

As we will be becoming our own authors, we have an author coming to visit us tomorrow!  Remember to bring in your slip with £5 if you would like a signed copy!

13^th October      -An author is coming to visit us!

To tie in with our work on writing our own Sea Adventure stories, we are having an author visit us to do some activities. Her name is Karen Owen and she will be talking about her latest book "As quiet as a mouse." If you would like to pre-order a copy at a special discount price of £5 please send the form we sent home and £5 and back to your class teacher.

 

22nd October     -Phonics Workshop (4-5pm & 5.30-6.30pm)

Sarah is running a phonics workshop where you can learn more about how we teach phonics. It will include ideas to help at home as well as video clips from phonics lessons at Fircroft. A crèche is also available at both sessions.

 

26^th –30^th October      HALF TERM

We will be sending a little bit of Half term homework home and as always please try to read with your child, including their word cards, every day.

 

10^th November -        Cinema Trip (morning only)

We will be going to see Penguins of Madagascar at Streatham Odean and will be going by bus. We need lots of volunteers to help with this as it will be our first trip on public transport.

 

 

 

Tinga tinga tales

Jumbo! This week to celebrate black history month we are looking at tinga tinga tales and focusing on African animals in particular the giraffe, african fruits and greetings! 

We have already made a great start.

We have been enjoying our work on trains and Chuggington this week!

 

Thank you to all the volunteers who came on our trip! The children loved seeing the trains up close!
